We’re nearly a month into Spring and things are looking brighter with more daylight and a 2nd booster for eligible individuals. Though many of us are weary of the pandemic, it is important to continue to protect yourself and your loved ones.

If you are neither vaccinated nor boosted, we recommend you take action. The longer you wait, the higher the chances of contracting COVID-19, leading to greater health risks and complications. Remember, those who are vaccinated and boosted are much less likely to be hospitalized.

There’s good news for some Californians with the availability of the 2nd Booster dose for individuals at greater risk. Here are some quick pointers for you:

  • The 2nd Booster doses of the Moderna or Pfizer COVID vaccine are now authorized for eligible individuals 50 years or older.
  • *Immunocompromised individuals 12 years and older who are moderately to severely immunocompromised can get a 2nd Booster dose of the Pfizer COVID vaccine.
  • *Immunocompromised individuals 18 years old and up can get a 2nd Booster dose.
  • Those whose initial vaccine was Johnson and Johnson should get boosted with an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer or Moderna).

*Immunocompromised means to have a weakened immune system.

The second booster eligibility only applies to older adults or immunocompromised individuals for whom it has been at least 4 months since their first boosters. The second boosters can follow any authorized COVID-19 vaccine booster. To schedule an appointment today, visit https://vax.sccgov.org/.

Our team at Los Gatos Doc highly encourages each and every one of our patients to schedule vaccinations and booster appointments. If you have any concerns about your medical needs or questions about the vaccinations, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Warmly,

Dr. V, Adriana, & Jessica
