“Ring out the false, ring in the true.” – Alfred Lord Tennyson

Our Los Gatos Doc Team wishes you and your family a happy and healthy 2023. The New Year is the perfect time to get back on track with your fitness goals.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), less than 47% of adults fulfilled cardiovascular activity goals, and 25% met combined cardiovascular and muscle-strengthening guidelines.

If you have never exercised before, start small and slow. Choose activities you enjoy and can easily schedule in your current lifestyle and stick with them.

After choosing an activity, select short and long-term 2023 fitness goals. Short-term goals can be achieved in days or weeks (like drinking 8 glasses of water each day or buying new shoes for your daily exercise). Long-term goals can take weeks, months, or longer to achieve (walking 10k steps per day).

If you need help or want to know more about our Lifestyle Management Services please reach out to Adriana and Jessica at 408.502.6040 to schedule an appointment.

What Our Patients Are Saying

“Last week, I broke out in terrible rashes and was nervous about getting treatment right away, given the uncertain times.

Thanks to the wonderful staff of Dr. V’s office, I got to connect with him on video and picked up the meds the same day. He was, as always, thorough and patient. Many thanks, Dr. V and the ladies at the office!”

Monthly Health Observance: National Blood Donor Month

Over 7 million people give blood to America each year. This selfless generosity is a lifeline for so many people.

1 in 7 patients visiting a hospital requires blood. This ranges from trauma victims to patients battling trauma, sickle cell disease or thalassemia, cancer, or victims of accidents, and organ recipients. Cancer patients use 25% of all blood donations. We need blood transfusions in one out of every 83 newborn deliveries in America today, a rate that has increased by over 50 percent between 2006 and 2015.

The need is great. Every two seconds, someone needs blood in America. The latest statistics show patients use an average of 42,000 blood components every day. But, just 3% of all Americans donate blood.

January is National Blood Donor Month, an opportunity for us all to recognize the selflessness of America’s blood donors while encouraging more people to give. As medical professionals, we understand the importance of ensuring there’s blood on the shelf when it’s needed the most. We want to thank all the donors who make this lifesaving difference possible.

The American Red Cross and Blood Banks of America encourage everyone to continue donating blood. If you would like to become a volunteer blood donor, you can schedule an appointment using the Red Cross Blood Donor App, RedCrossBlood.org, or 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or contact your local blood donor here. There is no waiting period for donors who received a flu shot or a Moderna, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccination or booster recipients and are symptom-free.
