What Our Patients Are Saying
“I met Dr. V during Covid. I wish I had met him way before as my family doctor.(PCP) what are you doing. I’ve never had a doctor as attentive to my care. I’ve never had a doctor that was as concerned about my health. He was professional and let me know that he was human as well. He didn’t try to shorten our visits and he wasn’t careless with my time. I moved and I wish I could’ve taken him with me. I he’s an awesome doctor and you cannot get better. Thank you Dr. V”

How to Remain Healthy in the Summer Heat
Here are four of Dr. V’s top recommendations to stay healthy and vibrant this August:
- Protect Yourself from Summer Heat – With the summer heat in full swing, it’s crucial to stay informed about how to protect yourself and your loved ones from heat-related illnesses. August can bring some of the hottest days of the year, making it essential to prioritize your health and safety. At Los Gatos Doc, we offer expert advice on how to stay cool, hydrated, and healthy during these hot months:
-
- Learn about the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
- Make sure you stay hydrated – remember thirst is a late sign of dehydration and it’s important to drink water regularly throughout the day to stay properly hydrated. Consider adding electrolyte-rich drinks if you’re engaging in intense activities.
- Avoid the peak heat of the day by scheduling your workouts and outdoor activities in the early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.
- Choose the Right SPF – Always use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher when outdoors. This ensures protection against both UVA and UVB rays.
- Prepare for Seasonal Transitions – As summer begins to wind down and fall approaches, it’s important to prepare your body for the seasonal transition. This can include boosting your immune system to fend off late-summer colds and seasonal allergies. Incorporate foods rich in vitamins C and E, such as citrus fruits, nuts, and leafy greens, into your diet.
- Take Advantage of Local Farmers’ Markets – August is the peak season for many fruits and vegetables, making it a great time to visit local farmers’ markets. Fresh produce like tomatoes, berries, corn, and zucchini are at their best this time of year. Not only does shopping at farmers’ markets support local agriculture, but it also ensures you’re getting nutrient-dense, seasonal foods. Try incorporating these fresh ingredients into your meals to enjoy their full health benefits.
- Enjoy Outdoor Evening Activities -The long days of summer provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities in the cooler evenings. Plan family walks, bike rides, or outdoor yoga sessions after dinner to stay active without the intense midday heat. These evening activities can also help regulate your sleep cycle by allowing your body to cool down and prepare for a restful night. Remember to stay hydrated, apply a broad spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, and use mosquito repellent if necessary.
By embracing these unique tips, you can make the most of the remaining summer days and prepare your body for the upcoming seasonal changes. Stay proactive about your health and enjoy all that August has to offer.
